Dharma School News
The Dharma School teachers and students were saddened to hear the news of the passing of our beloved teacher, Michiko Ryuto, who was completing her 55th year as a teacher. In some families she had taught three generations. She will be missed especially by the youngest students and by all at Bon Odori practices. We thank her for her years of devoted service and express our heartfelt sympathy to her family.

At the funeral service, the family distributed “hearts” to the children. Wildflower seeds were imbedded and were to be planted by the children to grow the flowers in Michiko’s memory.

The Dharma School teachers would like to express their sincere thanks to the temple for the wonderful “appreciation” dinner hosted for them and to the ABA for the book, “Dharma Breeze” presented to each current teacher. It will be an important resource for planning lessons and explaining the Jodo Shinshu Teaching.

We thank Dr. & Mrs. Kenneth Fujii for their donation of $50 (presented at the above-mentioned dinner); to Mr. & Mrs. Stephen Broccoli for their gift of $100 (Hatsu Mairi for son, Benjamin Masaru Broccoli) and to Ms. Jill C. Nakashima for her gift of $25 (Hatsu Mairi for nephew, Benjamin Broccoli).

We thank Kimi Ishihara for making the ribbon bows for our Parents’ Day corsages.

Sunday, June 10th, will be the last service for the current term and we will then be on “vacation” until the new term begins in the fall. We ask all our children & their families to take care and have a safe & fun hiatus from Dharma School. Remember: When you return in the fall, invite a friend who is not yet coming to Dharma
School to join you.
